“This are the places to submit (or upload) your podcast to:
- Google Play Music
- Pocket Cast
If you want people to be able to find your podcast, you need to submit it to different podcast directories. The most known one is iTunes, but there are others that you need to submit to manually. People will then be able to look for your podcast, search for it by its name or find it by the keywords that they are interested in.
Submitting the podcast to iTunes
This is the most important place where you need to upload your podcast. iTunes is the system that will show your podcast to all the iPhone users that look for it. It is built into iPhones, Apple computers, and other Apple appliances, so this makes it really important.
You can submit your podcast to iTunes on this link https://podcastsconnect.apple.com. You will have to create a profile with a username and password and then you can submit the RSS link to your podcast. The RSS link needs to be properly generated for iTunes to accept it.
You will also find the Podcast analytics on the same link. This is only the analytics for the people that have listened to or subscribed to your podcast through iTunes, but it should show a relevant number of people because a lot of people use iTunes.
Things to know about submitting to iTunes:
- You need to have at least one live show in your feed
- Your cover art needs to be at least 1400 x 1400 px
- Your cover art needs to be smaller than 500kb
Submitting the podcast to Stitcher
Stitcher Radio is one of the most known Internet radio services. It focuses on news and information radio and podcast, so it is really relevant for podcasters. It has a lot of listeners and this makes it ideal for you because people can find your podcast randomly when they are browsing through the content on Stitcher.
You can submit your podcast for free if you follow this link https://partners.stitcher.com. You will have to create a profile and submit your RSS and a couple of other information, but it is easy and worth it.
Submitting the podcast to Blubrry
This is another podcast hosting service, that also dubbs as a podcast directory, but with a twist.
This is a bit of a different directory because it will allow your podcast to show up at places where it normally would not. Like the Google TV or Samsung Smart TV or Roku TV. So it seems smart to submit it. You need to create an account here and then add your podcast here.
This is not really a podcast directory, but a music app, that also invites podcasts to join their community. So, why not use another invitation to go get your podcast to find new subscribers. It can be a bit harder to find the URL where you submit your podcast, but no worries, I’ll make it easy for you. You need to go to the Contact Us page (here) and in the Subject field, you choose Request New Podcast. Now you are able to add the Title and the RSS Feed of your podcast.
And then you are done, they have Jedis that will use the Force to push this podcast to the Universe 😀 Pretty sweet 😀
Google Play Music
Well, this one is not always available to everyone, Google has rolled out podcasts for selected countries only. So, you may be out of luck and see the message “Unfortunately, podcasts are not yet available in your country. Check back for updates.”.
You will be asked to add your RSS feed and then they will send you an email to the contact email address that is listed in your feed. This is the only time I’ve seen such a requirement, but Google is Google 😀
It took a while to receive the e-mail address. No, not really, I just did not figure out that I need to click the button “confirm email” for them to send me the email, I just waited at this screen.
But at the end of the day, I was able to verify the ownership and get my podcast submitted. You will have to wait for them to review your podcast and only then it will show up in google play.
Google also has the analytics so you can check out how people are listening to your podcast. The analytics is separate for listeners and subscribers.
Submit to Pocket Cast
This is the link you can use to submit your podcast to pocket cast. You just need to add your XML feed and wait a couple of seconds. Nothing else. You will then receive a link to you pocket cast URL that you can share with your followers. And everyone will be able to find you in Pocket Cast.”
